When You Are In Trouble – Pray
Scripture Text : Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Psalms 107 :6 -7 NIV
Once Jesus said to His disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water and they were in real danger.
They were rowing hard and struggling against the winds and waves to reach the other shore safely.
All their past experiences of facing a storm, wisdom and skill to navigate skillfully were reduced to nothing. When they were about to drown and encounter death they cried to the Lord.
The disciples shouted, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
The Lord heard them in their ‘trouble’ and silenced the sea.
Hagar once ran away from her home. The Lord said to her to go back and stay in her home. He also promised Hagar, He will make her son a great nation. She trusted God and went back to her home.
Again there came a time where she was chased out. She wandered in the desert with her son.
Then she went and sat down by herself. She burst into tears and said, “I don’t want to watch the boy die.”
Then God opened Hagar’s eyes, and she saw a well full of water.
We wander and run from pillar to post to find a solution to our trouble. Everyone ignores us when we face a difficult time.
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. James 5 :13
Prayer should be the first reaction when you are in trouble and not your last option.
I want to encourage you this morning to stop running behind physicians, experts, lawyers and counsellors to solve your problem.
Call to Him. The solution to all your problem is found at the feet of Jesus. He will never ignore your plea for help.
He will turn the deserts into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs. He will lift you out of your affliction and bless you.
- Cry out to Him
- He will straighten the way
- He will lead you into a city where you could settle
Whatever ‘trouble’ you are facing today God is able to redeem you. When the waves are lifted high, He will calm the storm to a whisper. He will guide you to your desired haven.
He will deliver you from the deepest gloom and break away every chains and break down gates of bronze and bars of iron. He will sent out His word and heal you and snatch you from the door of death.
When you are in ‘trouble’ just pray.
Have A Blessed Day!
