Do Not Be Anxious About Anything
Scripture Text Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”.
In life everyone struggles with something. We face many problems and often Satan makes us to think it is our fault. We blame ourselves for the wrong decisions of our life. This makes us fall into depression. Everyone has a struggle but the circumstances differ.
The enemy wants us to feel hopeless and be enslaved to worries and fears.
Matthew 6:27 says" Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life"?
The Bible teaches us not to worry. Instead of worrying we are to pray and plead to God.
Matthew 26;41 says “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak”.
We are to stop worrying and pray. Our God is a good father. He gives good gifts and He loves us unconditionally. Don’t worry about the closed door. When we pray God will open the doors that we cannot open. God is in control and He is preparing you for the better.
The psalmists say in Psalms 55 :22 Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. We can bring every need and request to Him without hesitation. Leave your problem at God’s throne.
Some of you may be thinking while you read this how can I not be anxious about my sickness, my work, my debts, my teenage son who is addicted to alcohol, my angry spouse etc.…
Jesus said, Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Our God still works in the same way today. He is our healer restorer, redeemer and friend.
Make a firm decision “Lord I no longer want to be anxious about this problem in my life. Take care of my problem. I thank you for taking care of my problem".
Prayer shifts your focus away from your problems to GOD.
Also, Paul says in the above verse to "Give thanks to the Lord". We are to thank Him for all the good things in our life. 1 Thessalonians 5;18 says “In everything give thanks”.
Let us not forget to thank God for all the good things He has done to us in the past. Imagine that your neighbor constantly knocks on your door asking to borrow stuffs but never thanks you. Sometimes we treat God like that. We don’t stop to thank Him for His blessings.
Take some time to Thank Him! Praise Him ! Exalt Him!
Tell God that you love Him and trust Him.
Thank Him for His grace and compassion.
Dear Lord, You are my rock, Fortress, Refuge, Deliverer and Stronghold. I admit that I often forget to thank and praise you. Help me to not worry about tomorrow but instead focus on what you are doing in my life right now. I trust you will take care of my financial, relational, physical, spiritual and emotional needs. Help me to trust you more and worry less. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
