From The Mouth of A Raven
Scripture Text: “I have commanded the ravens to feed you there”. 1 Kings 17:4
The Lord told Elijah to hide himself by the brook on Cherith. God promised Elijah to send ravens to feed him. God not only told Elijah to hide himself in an isolated place also God said that he would be fed twice a day by an unclean bird raven.
Elijah obeyed God and lived by the isolated brook. God supplied the food needed for the prophet through the ravens. The ravens did not bring food for one whole week. They came in the morning to give him food needed for the morning hours and again they came at evening to provide him his night meal.
Elijah had enough food that kept him satisfied but it did not come in the way he anticipated.
If God sends you to Cherith a lonely and desolate place do not despair.
Proverbs 16:9 “A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps”.
Life is uncertain and like Elijah we are to depend on God every day. God will care for us in many unexpected ways like he cared for the prophet Elijah in the famine-stricken land.
Are you facing situations that seem impossible to you?
God has a thousand ways to meet your needs.
Some of us are not seeing God move in our lives and provide for our needs because we are trying to do everything according to our limited human thinking and understanding.
God has unlimited power and ultimate control over everything.
Ask the Lord Forgiveness for leaning on your own power, might and intellect. Obeying God is more important than anything else.
The psalmists say in Psalms 37:25 “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
Like Elijah, let us learn learn to be content and not run ahead of God or away from God but to rest in the protection and provision of God in the face of difficulty.
God Bless You!
