God Is There In Your Darkest Valley
Scripture text “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23 : 4
We as a community are living in one of the darkest times of our history. Each day brings new headlines that fuel our fears.
People are living in despair worried about losing their loved ones, losing their jobs and worried about the uncertain future. In the darkest valley you may feel ill equipped, powerless, uncomfortable and fearful.
God promises that even in your darkest valleys He is with you.
When the sheep goes through a valley filled with danger and threats the sheep is helpless. Yet, the shepherd who is present in the valley is always watchful.
The shepherd has His eyes on the sheep to spare them from all sorts of danger. No enemy can harm them nor can any natural disaster destroy them while it is passing through the valley. He lovingly guides each sheep and brings it out to a better place.
The valley is just a pathway. You may not know the way. It may be hard and unfamiliar. The shepherd knows the way and He will lead you.
David was not fearful in the darkest valley.
In John 16 : 32, Jesus was talking to His disciples on the night of His betrayal. He said to them:
“Behold an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.”
Jesus found His comfort, in the darkest valley of His life, in the ever present comfort of His Father.
When you can’t even see the path ahead and you wonder who will help you, your Shepherd is telling: I will be with you.
We need not fear anything because God is with us no mater what happens in our life. All our steps are determined by God, and nothing comes without His knowledge.
No one in this life is exempt from troubles. The question is, Are you walking the valley alone or with Christ?”
He causes all things, “to work together for our good.”
- Fear no evil
- You are not alone
God has something beautiful for you on the other side of the valley.
