God’s Miraculous Provision
Scripture Text: There was food everyday for Elijah, the woman and her family.1 Kings 17: 15
In 1 Kings 17:7-16 we read there was a drought in the land and God instructed Elijah to go to the widow’s house in Zarepath. So Elijah went to zarepath. There he saw a widow gathering sticks to prepare her last meal.
Elijah asked her for a piece of bread. She sorrowfully said, “I don’t have anything except a handful of flour in a jar and a bit of oil in the jug.”
She also said, I am preparing this last meal so that I and my son will eat it and die.
Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid.” Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, the jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.
She trusted God and did just as Elijah told her.
We read in verse 15,There was food everyday for Elijah, the woman and her family.
In 1 Samuel 25, we read, David send ten of his men and requested food for him and his men to a man named Nabal. He was very wealthy and had 1000 goats and 3000 sheep. Nabal insulted David’s men and send them away. He was not willing to give anything from his surplus resources.
It is interesting to note that the widow did not give out of her surplus resources. She divided her last meal and gave a portion of it to the prophet. God multiplied the flour and the oil and there was enough food for them during the drought. Thereby they enjoyed the miraculous provision of God.
God miraculously provided water from the rock, manna from the skies, water to Hagar and Ishmael in the wilderness.
God knows exactly what we need each day. You may say, I have nothing left. Nothing can solve my problem. No one can provide for my needs. I have no strength to overcome the crisis of my life.
God is telling you today, “Do not be afraid.” Those who trust in the Lord will not be ashamed during perilous times but they will be satisfied. Let not your faith in God diminish but grow stronger. Have a close communion with God everyday.
You resources may be too limited. When you trust God and put God first, He will take care of your tomorrow.
We live in days of great doubt and uncertainty but even during these unusual times, He will miraculously provide for your needs and the needs of your entire family everyday.
Have a blessed day!
