Lord, Give Me Success Today – { Prayer Of Abraham’s Servant}

Lord,Give Me Success Today

Scripture text Genesis 24: 12 Then he said, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

Abraham in his old age gave his trusted servant a task to find a wife for his son Isaac. His servant travels with a caravan of camels to Abraham’s hometown some 600 miles away.

Abraham’s servant prays to God for the impossible to happen. He prays God to give him success as soon as he arrived in the city to choose a bride for Isaac. He was a stranger to the people in the city. He never reveals his identity as Abraham’s servant nor his purpose behind his visit.

The young woman who was fit to be the bride

  • Should provide a drink of water to him who is a stranger.
  • Should volunteer to provide water to his ten thirsty camels.

The servant requested an impossible task to happen.

Before he had finished praying, he looked up and saw Rebecca, and he ran to meet her (v. 17).

Rebekah did exactly as the servant had prayed. God answered his prayer so quickly.

The scripture tells us, Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. Rebekah was the daughter of Abraham’s nephew Bethuel and the granddaughter of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The woman was very beautiful and a virgin. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again. The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.”

Matthew 19:26 says, “With God all things are possible.”

Matthew 21:22 says,  If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Are you in need of some success? Do you have an impossible task ahead of you? Do you have important decisions to make?  Is prayer your first priority?

Dear friends!

Ask the Lord to give you success every day. Let us pray the prayer of that unnamed servant. Tell the Lord, “Give me success—this day,”

God will answer you quickly  and  you will be at the right place at the right time. All impossible things will be  possible to you in Jesus name!

Have a blessed day !
