Peace Like A River
Scripture Text: If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea. Isaiah 48 :18
In this chapter God tells the Israel people, If you had only listened to My commands, your peace would have been like a river.
All of us desire to have peace in our lives. No one wants a life of chaos and conflict. God promises us, His peace will flow like a river. Here peace is compared to a river. No one can stop the flow of a river. God is promising us a peace that will never run dry.
The peace of God is only for those who obey His call. Those who reject His voice there is no peace.
Sadly many born again Christians lack peace in their hearts and home. They have disputes, conflicts and arguments over various issues.
If God has promised us peace like a river, why do we lack peace?
In the same chapter verse 22 we read, ‘There is no peace says the Lord, for the wicked.’
The prodigal son did not listen to his father and took the share of his property and enjoyed all by himself. Finally he ended up with the pigs. He lost peace and joy and ruined his life.
When there is lack of peace it is a clear sign there is something wrong in our life. There is this little bit of wickedness in our life that God is not pleased.
Like the prodigal son we want all benefits, gifts and blessings of God but never want to obey His commands.
You begin to feel dry and empty. It is because the peace of God is not flowing in your life. When you ignore God, disregard His words and commands, ‘You won’t experience His peace.’
Is there peace in your life, your home?
Do you feel disturbed, upset, restless and tensed about things in your life?
Sickness and storms may come but the peace that transcends all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.
The peace God offers us is the same yesterday, today and forever. No one can rob us of this peace. The enemy cannot take it away from you. The power of darkness cannot destroy it.
John 14 :27 Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you”
Obey His voice. Draw closer to Him. Abide in Him.
Don’t place your trust in the world. Don’t seek after the temporary peace the world offers you. Even when the whole world is in turmoil you can have peace in your soul.
I pray the peace of God to flow like a river in your life.
