The Lord Will Light My Lamp
For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. Psalms 18 :28NKJV
David sang to the Lord a song of praise, when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
He said, You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light. 2 Samuel 22 :29
Darkness in the scriptures refers to darkness caused of ignorance, sin, adversity and calamity.
When we are in a dark place fear and panic grips our hearts. We do not know what is ahead of us, which way to move and what danger lies in front of us. We begin to feel weak, discouraged, hopeless and abandoned etc.
David faced some dark moments in his life. He was alone. He asks, How long O Lord? Will you forget me forever? Psalms 13 :1
Nevertheless David puts his confidence in the Lord and says, the Lord will light my lamp. Also he says, He will enlighten my darkness.
Joseph faced some dark phase in his life. The scripture says, the Lord was with Joseph. His presence was with Joseph in his darkest hours.
He felt abandoned, dejected and forgotten by everyone. God dispelled the darkness in the life of Joseph and crowned him with favor. He brought him out of the adversity into blessing and prosperity.
God was going before the children of Israel in a pillar of fire by night. His words enlightened them. He removed all the obstructions on their way. He made the crooked paths straight.
When they were discouraged, He carried them through. He illuminated their path and they were able to avoid all the snares of the enemy. He turned all the darkness into light for them.
Prophet Micah says, “Though I sit in darkness the Lord will be my light” Micah 7:8
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. Isaiah 42 :16
What a wonderful Promise!
Satan always tries to keep the people in darkness. He keeps us in spiritual darkness. He makes our mind occupied with worldly things. He keeps us from going to church, praying, meditating the word of God and doing things associated with God who is the source of light.
Everything around you may seem dark and you are not able to comprehend what is going on around you.
Don’t worry. You are not alone. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. He will transform your life, heal you and restore the lost peace and joy in your lives
God will cause His light to shine upon you. He will light your lamp and cause light to arise. He will be your support and strength. He will show you the path you should take.
If you are scared and find yourself in a dark place, say this verse again, “For thou will light my lamp, the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.”
God will dispel all the darkness, fears and worries of uncertain future and light your path. Trust Him!
