Wait Patiently For The Lord

Wait Patiently For The Lord

Scripture Text: Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Psalms 37 :7

In the midst of trials  we feel our prayers and cries are not heard. We don’t see an immediate change to our situation and get discouraged.

We have to remember that God’s timing is always perfect even though there is no immediate answer to our prayer or change in our situations and even when we cannot see anything.

We need to learn to be still before the Lord. Sometimes we try hard to fix things but God says to us, ‘Be still, I your God will make it happen.’

Waiting is not easy when you are under pressure.

Saul waited for Samuel for seven days as he had told him. At the end of seven days, Samuel had not come.  Saul couldn’t hold on any longer. He surrendered to pressure and took a wrong step. Impatiently, Saul moved ahead, sinfully acting as a priest to make the sacrifice. Therefore, he suffered great losses in life. 1 Samuel 13

God had promised Abraham that he would have descendants …so many that he could not even count for they would be numbered like the stars.  Genesis 15:5

As time passed by, the couple became older and physically it seemed impossible for them to conceive a child. Not fully comprehending God’s plan, Sarah decided to interpret and Ishmael was born to her Egyptian handmaid and later Sarah was despised by Hagar.

  • Don’t opt to self-help.
  • Don’t act hastily.

Those who wait for the Lord shall not be ashamed. Isaiah 49:23

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire Psalms 40 :1-2

Noah and his family waited patiently for a long time for the flood and its effects to end.

For five long months their boat was tossed about, apparently at the mercy of wind and wave. It was a trying ordeal; but Noah and his family waited patiently.

Dear Friends,

Waiting patiently means waiting for the time of God.

When God is silent in your life, you’re going through a test. When you don’t hear God and he feels like a million miles away, that is a test! The teacher is always silent when the students take a test. When God is silent in your life, your faith is being tested.

  • Learn to praise Him when the answer is nowhere in sight.
  • Learn to grow in your intimacy with Christ.
  • Learn to hear the voice of God.

Lastly, know that God knows what is best.

God is asking you, “Do you trust me?”

Then wait patiently. Stand still and see my salvation.

Be Blessed & Be Encouraged!
