You Are Set Free
Scripture Text : When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her,“Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Luke 13 :12 NIV
On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all.
When Jesus saw her, He called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then He put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.
This woman was bent and was unable to look up. She was powerless over her disease. She desperately needed a deliverance.
Satan had kept her bound for eighteen long years. Week after week ,month after month, year after year her conditions remained the same. There was no improvement in her physical state. All her hopes of being normal again were shattered.
The scripture says Jesus saw her in the synagogue. It is interesting to note that that though crippled for eighteen long years she came to the synagogue.
There are Christians who skip church service for a slight cold or headache. This woman suffered severe physical pain. She struggled to walk, sit and look up. Despite her struggle she came to the house of God.
She loved the Lord and was faithful. She had faith that one day God will answer her prayer and set her free.
When Jesus saw her, He said to her,“woman you are set free from your infirmity.” Immediately she was made straight. One touch of Jesus set her free from her sickness, her shame and hopeless situation.
The Bible does not record her name. It is simply mentioned as the crippled woman. Jesus calls her as ‘a daughter of Abraham’.
To the people around her she was a nameless, insignificant, sick person but in the eyes of Jesus she was the daughter of Abraham. Luke 13 :16
You may be a weak ,insignificant, unimportant person shunned by your family and society but you are a beloved child of God.
If you are facing a problem that has kept you bound for many years, Jesus will set you free. He will break every bondage and every chains.
The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 1 John 3 :8
He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Psalms 107 :14
Some of you may be feeling defeated, crippled and trapped and not able to hold your head high up. He will restore you and heal you.
No one may understand your pain. You are valuable in the eyes of Jesus. He knows your long time struggle. He will set you free from all the sickness, fears, curse and bondage.
One touch of Jesus and one word from His mouth can make all crooked things straight in your life. Your mouth will be filled with praise and thanksgiving.
Have a blessed day. God bless you.
