You shall not go empty handed
Scripture Text :And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty. But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians. Exodus 3: 21-22
The Israelites had labored and groaned under the oppression of the Egyptians for years.
In their time of heartache, distress and loss, God promised: “You shall not go empty.”
The remedy was peculiar. Simply, the women were to ask for jewelry and clothing from the Egyptian women. God would not send His people out without providing for them. He wouldn’t ignore their years of labor without ensuring their just wages. He would defend them and care for them.
As He did for the people of Israel, He will do for you and for me.
And what he promised he performed .Exodus 11:3; 12:36; Psalm 105:38; 106:42
One aspect that is usual in life these days are unfair treatment from others. It is common to see the rich and strong, oppressing the poor and the weak. Many times, the destitute and needy people do not seek revenge they just seek a way of escape and just wants to be free.
The children of Israel were in the land of Egypt for too long. Their journey to Egypt was peaceful. They came into Egypt as sojourners and the contribution of Joseph made Egypt a world super power but that has long been forgotten. They are now slaves seeking only to escape and their labors in Egypt were not paid for.
Perhaps you are going through the same thing in your life. Life may not be fair to you. You may be going through a disappointment or rejection. You may have been going through mistreatment and you are asking, ‘Is God really God?’
I want you to know today that God is still God and He has not forgotten you.
The Bible says, the children of Israel cried and God heard their groaning.
He did not just remember them. He is not just the God that pities. Beyond sympathy, He goes all out to change the unpleasant situations of life.
God is bringing you out of those tears and sorrows in Jesus name.
He ensured that the Egyptians paid up all the arrears they owed the children of Israel. The devil has no right to afflict you and God will make sure he pays a hundred-fold.
He gave them favor. They did not have to fight.
Your time for deliverance is today. Your enemies will serve you.
You shall not go empty. Nobody will go back empty that comes to God.
